I have been listening to Gregg Bredan lately. Although he is well known, I was not drawn to him until attending the Upshift summit in November, inspired by Ervin Laszlo. I was encouraged by Ervin's obvious respect for him. Gregg has a wonderful virtual presence and capacity to describe the immense value of the heart and its inter-relationship with our bodies, the Earth, and the Cosmos.
I had no idea of Gregg's interest in heart-related matters and was amazed at his research and in-depth understanding. He has done a beautiful job of marrying science with spirituality bridging how they work together. The scientific community has come a long way in the last 23 years by recognizing the amazing role that the heart plays. In 1991 the scientific community discovered a neural network within the heart. Today we know this "brain" or neural network within the heart has astonishing capacities.
Fields of research continue to expand such as neurocardiology....
Gregg shares "that our heart has 45 thousand specialized cells that carry information from the heart to the brain and spinal cord. These cells are called sensory neurities that think, feel, and remember independently of our brain." Greg explains that"our hearts therefore have their own language and memory!"
There are more impressive numbers to celebrate regarding the efficacy of our heart. We use Electrical Cardio Graphs ( ECG) to detect electrical waves in our hearts and brains. The ECG records the waves of electrical activity throughout the heart uncovering the heart rhythm patterns. We know now that the heart has a 5000 times greater electrical magnetic field than the brain.
Why is this important?
This is important as our world including ourselves is made of and/ for electricity. This heart electromagnetic energy intersects and impacts the rhythms (patterns) and waveforms
(overall shape), of our bodies and extends to Mother Earth and beyond. The aforementioned energy field generated from the Heart will carry much further than those in our brains. I can attest to this in my life as formerly repeating positive affirmations does not transform in the same way as what is generated from a feeling of love created from my heart's intention and energy.
I appreciate that our technology is growing in its capacity to verify what sages have known for eons. Today our heart's energy field can be scientifically detected to extend 3 to 6 feet from our bodies. Some refer to this as the torus field. I considered the range accurate until I understood that although our technology is growing, it has limits! Greg shared that this range is based on the capacity of our technology which at this time cannot detect a reading beyond 3 to 6 feet. He believes that our heart's energy has a much larger range. I felt such joy in this explanation as it concurs with Mark Anthony author of The After Life Frequencies who suggested that our heart energy is infinite. Imagine what it would be for our planet to have our heart energy awareness throughout our cosmos.
Now let's get to the Upshift part.....
Greg also discusses the importance of our breath and its impact on our body's chemistry. If we shift our breath and focus to the heart area, we are altering the chemical reactions in our bodies. This chemistry is vital to maintaining our homeostasis from cell production to our heartbeat. The benefits of conscious breathing are well-known in supporting us with stress and pain, stabilizing our blood pressure, and reducing feelings of anxiety and depression. When we add a focus to our heart area we bring it to a whole new level of self-regulation. Think of it as a 2-for-1 (heart-brain coherence) deal where one heart-brain system works together instead of two separate organs! The qualities of the heart differ from those of the brain. When I focus on my heart and listen the language that comes forth is infused with kindness and wisdom. I am touched by both the heart's strength and vulnerability.
Bodintuit is essentially one aspect of heart-centered energetic medicine. At its core, heart-energetic medicine can profoundly affect our well-being. I spent years experimenting with different techniques and I found it quite challenging to deep breathe due to PTSD. I would find myself more stressed not less because of what felt like over-exertion. What is effective is when I bring gentle presence to slow my breathing and engage my focus on my heart area. I then access the core emotional energies of the heart compassion and kindness. This allows access to a central point of my body's emotional and physiological state, which opens a doorway to peace. I have practiced this heart connectedness for many years daily, generating a deepening sense of well-being and oneness. This breath work has its roots in ancient wisdom cultures, and if you so feel called here is a clip from Gregg https://youtu.be/SLTlg0B-LsQ?si=JpL3cd2_0YeyjvZn
I feel grateful there is such a diverse community embodying a heart-centered direction. I appreciate the many sages who see that this shift is not easy. More is being revealed about the necessity of expanding into a heart-centered life during this Upshift!
Hot off the Press....
Greg has just published a new book Pure Human and I look forward to reading it and sharing the wisdom within the pages.
